Biography
Mike Poorman is director of alumni relations for the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, managing programs, events, awards and boards for the College’s 35,000-plus alumni. He is a 1982 graduate of Penn State, graduating with distinction with a dual degree in journalism and political science. Poorman was sports editor of The Daily Collegian in 1981-82, when it was named the nation’s No. 1 student paper, and is a past winner of the Collegian AIG Alumni of the Year.
As director of alumni relations, Poorman works with such groups as the Alumni Society Board, the Ad/PR Network Alumni Group and the Young Alumni Council. He is the Bellisario College’s liaison to the Penn State Alumni Association. Poorman has taught a variety of courses in the College for 26 years, teaching more than 5,000 students and mentoring scores of students and alumni.
Poorman is a master’s degree student at Penn State, pursing a degree in the history and philosophy of sport in the Department of Kinesiology in the College of Health and Human Development. His thesis project is serving as editor of and bringing to print the late Lou Prato’s book project, “The Wally Triplett Story.”
