Navigating Non-Democratic News

Marcos da Silva, the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, a visiting scholar at Michigan State University, will present a free public lecture titled "Navigating Non-Democratic News: Journalism Ethics, Values and Norms in Divided Times." It is the first annual Graduate Students in Communication public lecture that discusses the future of journalism in divided times.

International Reporting Info Session

Information session for spring semester international reporting embedded program. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursday from 9:05 to 10:20 a.m. During spring break students will travel abroad to report stories from the destination country, which will be revealed at the meeting. Only juniors and seniors are eligible, and print, broadcast, photo, and multimedia students are welcome to apply. Enrollment is limited and prior approval is needed for registration. Additional details, including how to apply, will be available at the meeting.

Alumnus Adam Pietrala visits for a series of classroom visits and meetings as part of the 2022 Ben Bronstein Lectureship.

Pietrala, a partner for global business development at FleishmanHillard New York, has extensive specific experience with consumer packaged goods brands, including Bayer Consumer Health, Chase, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Walgreens, and Starbucks among others. e is skilled at leveraging data and pop culture to develop insights and ideas that drive consumers to action. His work has been recognized with a Cannes Lion as well as Big Apple and Clio, Silver Anvil, and SABRE awards.
