Television veteran Jay Crawford will talk about launching a succesful career in sports journalism during this free public session.

David Frum, senior editor of The Atlantic, former speechwriter for George W. Bush and the author of "Trumpocracy," will present a free public lecture. The session is sponsored by the McCourtney Institute for Democracy at Penn State.

Dr. Sharon Dunwoody is an expert on the public understanding of science, particularly the role of science, environment and health messages in mass media. She is a professor emeritus of journalism and mass communication at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. The research areas she focuses on include science literacy, risk communication, scientist-journalist interactions and environmental communication. Her talk -- titled "Social Norms as Behavioral Catalysts for Science and Environmental Issues" -- is free and open to the public. Dunwoody is a professor of journalism and mass communication at the University of Wisconsin.

“Engaging the Community in Research” will be presented at the next Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute Bench to Bedside and Beyond Seminar Series from noon to 1 p.m. on Sept. 24.
