Don Hudson retired from Newsday in November. He had served as Newsday's editor since 2022, and before that assistant managing editor of specialty topics since October 2018. During his tenure, he led the company’s COVID coverage and watched the staff of more than 250 win an unprecedented number of awards. He helped transform and change the culture of that organization through digital, TV and investigations/enterprise.

"A Century After Nanook"

"A Century After Nanook" is an ambitious documentary focused on the drastic environmental and cultural changes that have occurred over the last 100 years in the Inuit village of Inukjuak, the location where Robert Flaherty filmed "Nanook of the North" from 1920-1921. Cory Doctorow is a science fiction author, activist and journalist. He is the author of many books, most recently “Picks and Shovels” and “The Lost Cause,” a solarpunk science fiction novel of hope amidst the climate emergency. His most recent nonfiction books include “The Internet Con: How to Seize the Means of Computation,” a Big Tech disassembly manual, and “Chokepoint Capitalism,” about monopoly platforms and creative labor markets. He coined the term “enshittification,” to describe the decay of online platforms. The word was named Word of the Year by the American Dialect Society, the Macquarrie Dictionary and the New Scientist. He works for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and serves as a MIT Media Lab research affiliate, a visiting professor of computer science at Open University, a visiting professor of practice at the University of North Carolina’s School of Library and Information Science, and he co-founded the UK Open Rights Group.” Doctorow will sign books outside the auditorium (Barnes and Noble will be on site with a selection of Doctorow’s recent titles).
