#MoreThanMean

As part of its Conversation Series, the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism and the chapter for the Association for Women in Sports Media at at Penn State present "#MoreThanMean: A Conversation About Harassment of Women in Sports Media." The session is free and open to the public. In April, a video titled #MoreThanMean called out the insulting and obscene harassment routinely heaped on two female Chicago sports reporters. That video has now been viewed more than 3.7 million times and started a national conversation. Now, the women who made the video -- Julie DiCaro and Sarah Spain -- are visiting Penn State.

The session will be moderated by Russ Eshleman, head of the Department of Journalism. The session is free and open to the public.

He will discuss launching, growing and maintaining a freelance design business and show his illustrations for clothing manufacturers, rock bands, children's book publishers, motorcycle and racing decals, gyms and fitness professionals, book covers, skateboards and more. "The Business of Entertainment"

Two speakers with different backgrounds -- Mike Bremer of the American Pavilion Worldwide Student Program at the Cannes International Film Festival and longtime entertainment industry executive Mark R. Lindsay -- will be featured as the combined presentation will focus on all facets of film and television production, inclucing distribution, finance and marketing, as well as how to get started in the industry. The session, of interest for students across many majors at Penn State, is free and open to the public. The session is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs in the College of Communications.
