Bumgi Min is currently a doctoral candidate in the Bellisario College. He earned his master’s degree in media studies at the University of Texas at Austin in 2015. His specialties are perceptions of and reactions to the misinformation and disinformation distributed through digital media and technologies, data journalism facilitated by social media platforms and digital resources, and the cross-national impacts of digital media on individuals and society.
He has published papers in the peer-reviewed journals Political Communication, Policy & Internet, Communication & Sport, and Atlantic Journal of Communication. Currently, he is completing a dissertation titled “When Fake News Endangers Refugees: A Cross-national Study of the Effects of Fake News about Refugees on U.S. and South Korean Audiences” with the support of a grant from the Don Davis Program in Ethical Leadership.
