Jingyi Guo

Jingyi Guo completed her BA in journalism at Jinan University, and her MA in global communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her current research interests lie at the intersection of gender, critical media and technology studies, and journalism.

Feminist perspectives have made Guo particularly concerned for social inequalities and constantly reflect on the hierarchy of power. Her previous research projects, with collaborators and friends, for example, have examined women journalism students’ professional socialization experience, postfeminist discourse in femvertising (i.e., women empowerment advertising), and the politics of care in digital platforms’ accessible design for older adults in the Chinese context.

Beyond research, Guo is a music lover and is enthusiastic about A Cappella.
