Olivia Cohen is originally from Bangor, Maine. She earned a bachelor's degree in television-radio media production from Ithaca College in upstate New York. After graduating, she went on to get her master's degree in communication theory and methodology from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, OH. Cohen does work in media effects and health communication, with a current emphasis on understanding how emotion influences information processing and responses to health-related media content. She applies this to the context of addiciton and the current opioid epidemic--seeking to understand how media can play a role in enhancing empathy towards those struggling with addiction and garner support for prosocial policies and public health initives.
Outside of her scholarly endeavors, she enjoys pilates, collecting records, and volunteers for Centre County PAWS as an adoptions counselor.
