Graduate Exhibition

Location: Playhouse Theatre, HUB-Robeson Center
The 29th annual Graduate Exhibition features work from more than 250 Penn State graduate students across disciplines sharing their creative activity and research. Performances begin at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the Playhouse Theatre. Reseach and visual arts presentations take place from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at teh HUB-Robeson Center. All events are free and open to the pubic.

Screening "Lost for Life"

Filmmaker Josh Rofé presents a free public screening of his film "Lost for Life," which focuses on juveniles receiving life-without-parole prison sentences. A panel discussion will follow the screening. Participants include: Rofé, Michael Burrowes, assistant director of The Rock Ethics Instiute at Penn State; Judge Timothy Searer, former president judge in Pennsylvania's 58th judicial district; and Michaela Soyer, a postdoctoral scholar at The Justice Center for Research at Penn State.

"Breaking the Code of Silence" -- a free public session sponsored by the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism -- features Annie Skinner of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and Bonnie Ford of ESPN discussing the general challenges of covering doping issues, the impact and specifics of the Lance Armstrong case, media ethics, and much more. The session will be hosted by John Affleck, the Knight Chair in Sports Journalism and society and director of the Curley Center.

"Truth and Trust in the 21st Century"

Kelly McBride, a senior faculty member at the Poynter Institute, will present a free public lecture about journalism ethics. McBride is a writer, teacher and one of the country’s leading voices when it comes to media ethics. She has been on the faculty of the Poynter Institute since 2002. The title of her presentation is "Truth and Trust in the 21st Century: How the Ethics of Journalism and Democracy are Changing."

"How to Succeed in Corporate America"

Penn State alumnus Charles Pittman ('70 Bus), the senior VP of Schurz Communications Inc., will present a free public lecture titled "How to Succeed in Corporate America." Piittman, a longtime newspaper executive, is a former All-American running back for the Nittany Lions. His visit is sponsored by UPAC, AHANA and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
