Multimedia journalist Maisie Crow, whose work has been honored by the Overseas Press Club, the World Press Association and Pictures of the Year International, will present a free public lecture and screening. A freelance journalist based in Brooklyn, N.Y., her master's thesis project at Ohio University was nominated for two Emmys. She has worked for newspapers and for the MediaStorm multimedia production company. Her film about the only remaining abortion clinic in the state of Mississippi and its fight to stay open despite a law that could shut it down remains in production. The film originated from a multimedia collaboration with the iPad magazine Atavist. She will show work from the project during her campus visit.

Image and emotion may be more effective than facts and figures. Lee Ann Head is the research director for Shelton Group, the nation’s leading marketing communications agency entirely
focused in the sustainability and energy efficiency sectors. She will share insights gathered from years of consumer research, pertinent findings from the field of behavioral psychology and best practices gleaned through years of marketing energy-efficient and sustainable products.

A free public panel discussion with public relations experts who deal with crisis and news-making situations every day. Panelists are: James E. Lukaszewski, president of The Lukaszewski Group, a Division of Risdall Public Relations, a well-respected firm with abundant experience in crisis communications; Genaro Armas, who has covered breaking and ongoing national news stories for The Associated Press; and Steve Manuel, a senior lecturer in the Department of Public Relations at Penn State who previously served as a public affairs officer for the Office of the Secretary of Defense and as a Marine Corps spokesman.
