The annual Pockrass Memorial Lecture will focus on how co-viewing and discussion can be used by parents to reinforce and support shared family identities, and help children express their emerging ideas on those topics and more. Marie-Louise Mares, a professor at the University of Wisconsin, will present the free public lecture.

A panel discussion about covering major news events with Rebecca Droke of AFP New Agency, Sebastian Foltz of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Scott Goldsmith of Politico, who all covered the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this year. The event is free and open to the public.

Centre Documenters Training

Location: 224 Willard Building (Bellisario Media Center)

Centre Documenters is looking for new documenters, fact-checkers and editors. Join the first rural documenters program in the country and a national network of documenters. We train and pay students to attend and document public meetings across Centre County. Sign up for this two-part training is open to anyone interested in becoming a Centre Documenter. These trainings will also qualify you for paid jobs with Centre Documenters — the best training ground for journalists and engaged citizens!

Location: Dr. Keiko Miwa Ross Student Farm at Penn State

A day of service at the Student Farm. Meet in front of Eisenhower Auditorium on Shortlidge Road. Transportation will be provided to and from the Student Farm. Assist with harvesting produce, cultivating fields and planting crops! Service work will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch, presentations and discussion until 1:30 p.m. Sponsored by Penn State Global.
