Penn State Education Abroad Fair

Education Abroad hosts a fair each fall semester with the objective of helping students discover the wealth of study, intern and research abroad options available to them at Penn State. International partner institutions, Penn State colleagues who lead programs abroad, and various offices across campus hold an exhibition to display what they offer! Learn about scholarships, grants and program discounts available to Penn State students. Free giveaways, free Berkey Creamery ice cream and five (5) attendees will be selected to win a $500 scholarship toward any approved education abroad program!

Join us for a three-part photojournalism series in the News Lab. This series is focused on the basics – you and your camera. It’s a perfect way to get your hands on equipment before you might in a class or, if you’re not a photo journalism major, it’s a great way to acquire new skills and get comfortable with a camera. “Strategic Considerations for a Career as an Independent Documentary Producer”

Documentary and film producer Roland Ballester will present the free public session as part of his multi-day campus visit (Sept. 9-12) made possible with support from the Hearst Visiting Professional Fund. Ballester is the executive producer and co-creator of "Merpeople" a four-part Netflix docu-series. He also produced the documentary “Halston,” a CNN Film on Amazon Prime. He's the former president of HomieShop, an animated character licensing company.

The Bellisario College Brownbag Series and the Don Davis Program in Ethical Leadership present Patrick Johnson, an assistant professor at Marquette University, discussing “A News Literate Journalism: Building a More Sustainable Future for Journalism Practice and Education with News Literacy..” Johnson is this year’s recipient of the Penn State Davis Ethics Award, which annually recognizes the best ethics-related dissertation successfully defended each year in the fields of communication and media.

The annual Pockrass Memorial Lecture will focus on how co-viewing and discussion can be used by parents to reinforce and support shared family identities, and help children express their emerging ideas on those topics and more. Marie-Louise Mares, a professor at the University of Wisconsin, will present the free public lecture.

The event is free and open to the public.
