Where Passion Becomes Opportunity

A director of student programs for The American Pavilion and an independent producer will conduct an informational presentation focused on the film industry in early November on the University Park campus of Penn State. Michael Bremer and Mark Lindsay will participate in the free public session titled “Where Passion Becomes Opportunity” at 6 p.m. Nov. 4, in 160 Willard Building. The event is presented by the College of Communications’ Multicultural Affairs Office.

Free public lecture featuring Alexandra Levit, president of president of Inspiration at Work, a business and workplace consulting firm. She has written six career advice books and is a former columnist for the Wall Street Journal. She will provide valuable insight into the job market and career planning for students that plan to enter the workforce. Her session and visit are sponsored by the Graduate and Professional Student Association.

This workshop examines scientists like Neil DeGrasse Tyson and other science communicators, looking at both the potential benefits and drawbacks when research dissemination and discussion moves beyond peer review publication.

"A Wing and a Prayer"

Location: Foster Auditorium, Paterno Library

Free public screening of "A Wing and A Prayer," the documentary directed and produced by Boaz Dvir, a senior lecturer in the College of Communications. The film tells the story of a secret 1948 operation to prevent a second Holocaust. A post-screening discussion features Dvir, film faculty member Richie Serman and aerospace engineering faculty member Mark Maughmer. Session presented by the Penn State Student Film Organization and University Libraries.
