In a free public lecture sponsored by the Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication, Jennifer Stapper will discuss her role in spreading the U.N.’s good work across the globe. She promotes her organization’s sustainable work and peacemaking efforts with a message that reaches more than 125 countries and includes around 6,500 U.N. volunteers in the field, and another 11,000 as online volunteers. Keeping a focused mission among hundreds of diverse cultures is a challenge in itself, working with equally complicated hardships like wars, refugee crises, economic difficulties and famine creates unique communications obstacles for Stapper and her team. She will discuss her role in telling the volunteer story and raising awareness of the importance of volunteers to U.N. goals.

Lewis Goldstein, CMO/VP of brand marketing for Organic Valley, will be the featured speaker in a free public lecture conducted under the auspices of the Page Center Professional in Residence program. His lecture, titled "Communication and Sustainable Consumption: Building an Organic Food Brand Against All Odds" is free and open to the public.

An evening with Riva Marker ('00 Film), producer of "Beats of No Nation," that includes a screening of the Netflix movie and a question-and-answer session with Marker. The free public session is presented by the College of Communications, the Center for Global Studies and the School for International Affairs.

A panel discussion and question-and-answer session focusing on the cultural shift in sports ethics and how communications professionals (sports communicators and journalists) should respond. The event, the Ben Bronstein Lecture in Ethics and Public Relations, is free and open to the public. Featured guests are Lester Munson, senior writer and legal analyst for ESPN and an adjunct instructor at Northwestern University, and alumna Jennifer Ridgley ('03 Ad/PR), senior director of communications for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Entrepreneur/singer-songwriter Joe Crookston wil be featured in a free public session presented by the College of Communications as part of Global Entrepeneurship Week at Penn State. Crookston is a music entrepreneur, folk singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He has released four albums as part of Milagrito Records. His 2008 album “Able Baker Charlie and Dog” was named the Album of the Year by the International Folk Alliance. Crookston, who resides in Ithaca, New York, tours in the United States, Canada and Ireland.

"Your Right to Be Here and Mine: Lessons from Missouri," a free public panel discussion with journalists, media scholars and other interested parties, will feature several College of Communications faculty members discussing the media, media coverage and press freedom around coverage of issues from the University of Missouri and related topics.

Free public lecture featuring S. Revi Sterling, the deputy chief of party for the Global Broadband and Innovations Alliance, an agreement between NetHope and USAID. Her research focuses on ICTD in women’s empowerment. Previously, she founded the ICTD graduate program at the University of Colorado Boulder. The event is sponsored by the Don Davis Program in Ethical Leadership and University Libraries.
